On March 5th, Intretech marked a major milestone at its Kapuvár campus: the completion of Phase 2 and the official launch of Phase 3. Here’s what happened, what it means, and what comes next.

It started with a single factory on the outskirts of Kapuvár. Today, that site spans more than 170,000 square metres of land and 73,000 square metres of built factory space – double what it was just a few years ago. What began as a foothold in Central Europe has grown into a full-scale strategic manufacturing hub.

The Phase 2 completion ceremony brought together a notable group of guests, including Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó, Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Gong Tao, and Kapuvár Mayor László Horváth – each speaking to what this investment means for the local community and for the broader China–Hungary economic relationship.

What Phase 3 is actually about

The new 36,000 square metre facility isn’t just more space – it’s a different kind of space. Phase 3 is focused on three areas set to define manufacturing over the next decade: renewable energy products, electric vehicle components, and sustainable packaging. An R&D centre is also part of the build, placing innovation at the heart of the campus rather than offsite.

On sustainability, Intretech’s Kapuvár campus already runs a 1.8 MW rooftop solar system, with plans to expand its renewable energy share further as operations scale. A dedicated industrial logistics corridor is also in the works, designed to streamline cross-border supply chains for clients including Renault, Stellantis, Procter & Gamble, and Nestlé.

What it means for Kapuvár

The Phase 3 investment creates 330 new jobs, with Intretech’s total headcount in Hungary expected to exceed 400 by the end of 2028. The emphasis on automation, materials science, and engineering management means the roles being created are bringing new kinds of expertise to the region.

Mayor Horváth noted at the ceremony that Intretech has consistently followed through on its commitments – a track record that reflects well on the company’s relationship with the city and its residents.

A bigger picture

2025 marked the third consecutive year that China was Hungary’s largest source of foreign direct investment, accounting for more than half of all FDI inflows. The Kapuvár expansion sits inside that story – but it also stands on its own as a long-term bet on Hungary as the right home for Intretech’s European ambitions.
